The wall shelf is the most honest object of interior decoration: it tidys, exposes, and structures the wall at the same time.

Floating shelf, with support, of angle: which one to choose?

The floating shelf, also called invisible shelf or wall console, is the most common in contemporary interiors. It creates a very clean suspended effect, without the supports being visible, which gives the impression that the board comes out directly from the wall. This type of shelf is suitable for areas where the wall is not visually weighed — narrow corridor, small bedroom, bathroom. In light oak wood or white lacquered MDF, it is integrated in almost all styles.

The Shelves with brackets or brackets take on their structure and make it a decorative element. Black matt or gold metal squares, wooden trestles, hanging cables — each support system brings its own character. These shelves are more suitable for industrial, bohemian or Nordic interiors where the structure is part of the aesthetics. They are generally more robust and carry heavier loads than floating shelves.

The corner shelves value often lost or neglected spaces — coin corners that don't know what to do for themselves. In a bedroom, bathroom or office, a well-positioned corner shelf recovers an unused volume and creates a decorative composition in a space that would not naturally have been considered for exploitation.

The shelves with hooks combine horizontal and vertical storage. Ideal in an entrance to place mail, keys, glasses, and hang coats, bags or helmets, they concentrate on a small surface everything you need on arrival and departure. How to compose a beautiful wall shelf?

This is the question that everyone asks himself after installing his shelf and having found himself in front of an empty board. A few simple principles to answer.

The first one: play on the heights. A shelf composition that works mixes objects of different heights — a large vase next to a short candle, a book standing next to a falling plant. The uniformity of heights kills visual interest.

The second is: varying materials. Wood, ceramics, glass, metal, fabric — a shelf that has only one type of material seems monotonous. A terracotta pot next to a wooden frame and a glass object naturally creates a visual richness.

The third: leave room. Overfilling is the most common error. A shelf where each centimeter is occupied appears congested, even if each object is beautiful. A few empty spaces make the composition breathe and highlight what remains.

And finally, the fourth: include living. A plant — succulent, ivy, pothos — brings an organic and changing dimension that no inert object can reproduce. Even a small plant in a simple pot is enough to make a shelf more welcoming.
